Iran Attacks World's Largest LNG Terminal in Qatar

Iran attacked the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal, located in Qatar, Qatar's Ministry of Interior reported. "Civil Defense is intervening in a fire in the Ras Laffan area following an Iranian attack," the ministry said in a post on X, according to ABC News. According to the Financial Times, about one-fifth of the world's liquefied natural gas is typically transported from Ras Laffan. International companies like ExxonMobil, Shell, and TotalEnergies are investors in the facility. Qatar Energy, the state-owned oil and gas company, confirmed that the Ras Laffan area was the target of multiple missile attacks. The attacks caused fires and "significant damage," Qatar Energy reported. So far, no casualties have been reported. This attack comes after Iran vowed to retaliate against energy facilities in Gulf countries following Israel's attack on Wednesday on its largest gas field.
